"Gurney Deck" by: JD Wiker custserv@wizards.com Customer Service Rep
I designed this deck as a joke. The name "Gurney" comes from the character of a bumbling intern that appears on a Midwestern morning radio show. In the Gurney deck, the insecure and wimpy Gurney is the Rookie Pilot. Whenever I play a Rookie Pilot on one of my opponent's 'Mechs, I say--in a squeaky, adolescent voice--"Ensign Gurney reporting for duty, sir! Is this my Daishi?" The look on my opponent's face is priceless!
The Black Market Connections cards insure that I have a ready supply of Rookie Pilots, and Intimidating Paint Job just adds insult to injury. Remember, since you don't have Logistics or Tactics, you'll eventually want to scrap those Think Tanks. Finally, Vlad of the Wards is the big bully who always beats up on Gurney. Keep him in reserve until you have the Gladiator or the Masakari in play, then go after those 'Mechs hampered by your Rookie Pilots.

The Evil Dasher Deck by: Wizards of the Coast R&D
There are only three cards banned in DCI-sanctioned BattleTech tournament rules. The first card, Effective Groundwork, was banned almost before the ink was dry. The other two, Dasher D and Elite MechWarrior, remined part of tournament play for quite some time before they were banned as well. The "Evil Dasher" deck is the main reason this decision was made. When played correctly, this deck should win around 70-80% of the time, even with one of the banned cards removed.
This version of the deck was common when the cards were banned. Only cards from the core set and the first expansion, Counterstrike, are used. While cards have been released in the Mercenaries and MechWarrior expansions that make it easier to handle this particular Evil Dasher deck, more recent Evil Dasher versions have also been improved with cards from the newer expansions.

"Quasimodo's Irregulars" by: Adam Conus wildcard@wizards.com
As soon as I saw Hunchback IIC from the MechWarrior expansion for the BattleTech TCG, I knew I had to build a deck around it. I had been disappointed with Alpha Strike 'Mechs in the past, but no more. The Clans had taken the much-maligned Hunchback design and used their advanced technology to create the ultimate AC/20 platform on a medium 'Mech. MechWarrior also provided the perfect pilot for this offensive monstrosity--the Sharpshooter.
My plan for the deck was to maximize the usefulness of Sharpshooter and Ammo Truck, both of which enhance Alpha Strike, by including as many 'Mechs with that option as I could manage. But I hadn't paid too much attention to the 'Mechs with Alpha Strike before, so when it came time to assemble the deck I was surprised to find out how few Clan 'Mechs have it. Despite my limited choices, though, the 'Mechs I included are relatively good; it's normally possible to deploy at least one per turn throughout the course of the game.
One interesting note about the deck is that it is not specific to any particular Clan. This should make it very easy to modify and improve, particularly as new cards come out in the future.

Arch Royal Defense Cordon (ARDC) by: Unknown
I like this deck because it's almost impossible to get hosed on the assets. Basically my idea was to counteract the downside of Arc-Royal Defense Cordon demanding that i pay 0+2P for all my non resource cards, by making a deck with low demand for diversified assets. M+P provided for a couple good picks as far as the clanner 'mechs were concerned, and the bombs are great because they do damage based on a 1 resource spent/1 damage dealt ratio. The only hang up is how tactical nuke hurts you too, but provided you're smart about it, you can still successfully amputate your own arm to kill your opponent :) Ranked 16th out of all of my decks.

This one is just a fun deck, putting the Suicide Troops on the Cyrano is pretty much the goal. If it ever works, it always starts out shaky, but it's devastating when it does work. Can't remember why I put the Salvage Yard's in there. the deck may run better without. Stayed away from missions, obviously because of the -1 initiative off The Star League.
Coming in 2nd out of all of my decks.
