New rules or game mechanics:

Arsenal introduces new cards and features into your Battletech game. Read below to learn what they do and how to use them.

Vehicles and Battle Armor Cards:

Vehicles are non-'Mech units such as Attach Helicopters, Tanks, and Hovercraft. They activate, attack, guard, and block like 'Mechs. If a Vehicle is damaged, roll a die; on a 6, you scrap the Vehicle.

Battle Armor are units of ground troops that wear powered combat suits, Like Vehicles, they also activate, attack, guard, and block like 'Mechs, but cannot attack or block alone. A Battle Armor unit also attacks of blocks at the speed of the fastest Omni 'Mech in the group accompanying it, if any.

You cannot play Pilot and Mission cards of Vehicles and Battle Armor unless specifically stated. For example, Front-Loaded Supply Lines says "All 'Mechs and Vehicles gain Alpha Strike: +2 attack." Other cards, such as Enhancements, work on 'Mechs as well as Vehicles and Battle Armor.

Finally, options such as ECM and Anti-missile that affect 'Mechs also affect Vehicles and Battle Armor, even if the option states that it applies only to 'Mechs.

Legacy Cards:

A Legacy card represents the lasting contribution made by an important figure in the BattleTech universe within his or her House or Clan. If you have no cards in play from that figure's House or Clan, aside from the Legacy itself, scrap the Legacy card.

About Base Construction Cost:

The base construction cost of a card is its cost without asset requirements, if any. For example, the total construction cost of a Sloth Squad is 0+3L, but its base construction cost is 0.

New rules or game mechanics:

High Command cards:

Included in each of the Commander's Edition starter sets was a "High Command" card, these new and powerful cards generally enhanced the existing advantages of that factions decks. For example each mech in a deck with the Kurita high command would get: -1 structure and gain C3. Others opened up a new playstyle or deck type like the Ghost Bear High Command card which would divert all non-unit non-resource cards scrapped from the stockpile into the players hand instead.

Box Powers:

The BattleTech trading card game introduced box power with the release of the Commander's Edition. Box powers were, "....a special ability offered to the user of a deck through its affiliation with a Clan or a House." The rule for this ability was printed on the outside of the pre-constructed decks for each represented Clan & House. This allowed the player to trade in 'useless' cards in the present hand for the referenced ability. The box power was not to be considered 'in play' as a card nor was the box something that could be targeted by the opponent or scrapped by the player. Box powers for Clans and Houses without pre-constructed decks could be received directly from Wizards of the Coast, the game's publisher.

The accumulated box power rules are provided here. The 'tap' symbol proceeded each rule.

Clan:

Ghost Bear (Alshain): Scrap a card from your hand to activate a 'Mech in your Construction Region that is fully constructed. Put a +1 attack counter on it for every 3 construction counters above its cost. Use this ability only during your Deploy phase.

Jade Falcon (Ironhold): Scrap a card from your hand to repair up to 3 damage to each of your Units. Use this ability only during your Repair/Reload phase.
