Installation instructions for Apprentice v1.46, and Battletech test files v0.01 (CE and Crusade sets only, for initial testing):

1.  Go to www.dragonstudios.com and download appr146.exe, a self-extracting zip file of the Apprentice program and related files.

2.  Install it. 

3.  Download a copy of the "cardinfo.exe" file and run it - this is a self-extracting zip containing the following files:

AlphaX.thm
BTClanTest.dec
cardinfo.dat
expan.dat
format.dat
magis___.ttf

4.  Copy the AlphaX.thm file to the /apprentice/graphix directory
5.  Copy the BTClanTest.dec file to the /apprentice/decks directory
6.  In the /apprentice/sets directory, rename the original cardinfo.dat file to something else (it contains Magic: the Gathering cards).  After you have renamed the original cardinfo.dat file, copy the BT cardinfo.dat file into the /apprentice/sets directory.
7.  In the /apprentice directory, rename the original expan.dat file to something else (it contains Magic: the Gathering expansion set information).  After you have renamed the original expan.dat file, copy the BT expan.dat file into the /apprentice directory.
8.  In the /apprentice directory, rename the original format.dat file to something else (it contains Magic: the Gathering deck construction format set information).  After you have renamed the original format.dat file, copy the BT format.dat file into the /apprentice directory.

9.  Follow appropriate system instructions to install the font (Magic Symbols) found in the magis___.ttf file.  You don't have to do this if you don't want to; the only effect will be that the construction cost (listed on the upper right of the card) will have Magic: the Gathering symbols instead of the Asset letters (ALMPT).  The cost also appears at the top of the card text area....

At this point, you have everything you need to start.

When you first start up the Apprentice program, go to the Options menu and select Preferences.  
Click on the Themes tab.
Click on the Change button.
Select AlphaX from the list of themes, and click on the Open button.
Finally, click on Okay.
